Spirit Of The West

they came and sang

in a bar

so long ago

their energy, their songs

touched my soul

and made me sing and dance

out loud...and proud

long live

The Spirit of the West

hopefully the kettle will always be on the boil

I'll see you tonight , I'll buy the next round

because everything between you and me.... is not political

we don't have to keep up with the Jones

because more than anything

for this old sod

we are the people of the frozen north

keep singing... let your energy flow

as the tidy rolls out

the wonders start to jump out

The First Snowman

she said to me

"I want to make a snowman "

she was only three

so in the snow we played

the dogs, her, and me

giggling in the sun

as I passed down the knowledge

passed down to me

and from the snow

this wonder was set free

growing within

it sat for a few weeks

in the dark corner of the fridge

a quarter of it's former state

covered in paper towel

wrapped in foil

and from it's centre

a new cabbage grew

and grew

and as it did

life pushed the decay

away to the edges

and kept the centre

brilliant and alive

I ate this new little cabbage

that the dying one left for me

it was the best cabbage

ever

where I stayed

on the farm

near the edge

where sky meets sea

cozy as can be

I climbed the hill of rocks

to see from the top

down across the valley

and what I found was

Life in every crack, stretching for the sky

clouds paint the sky

as wonders fill my eye

reminding me

she watches me

the wind blows the clouds
across the wondrous big sky
it blows thoughts on the waves
