it sat for a few weeks
in the dark corner of the fridge
a quarter of it's former state
covered in paper towel
wrapped in foil
and from it's centre
a new cabbage grew
and grew
and as it did
life pushed the decay
away to the edges
and kept the centre
brilliant and alive
I ate this new little cabbage
that the dying one left for me
it was the best cabbage
ever
